Interested in an EV but worried how you are going to "fill up" your new EV? Just as going to the gas station was once a new experience, charging up your EV will soon become second nature.

To charge your electric vehicle you can choose from three types of charging setups:

Level One is a simple household 120-volt outlet. Your Genesis EV will come with an included cable for this type of charging. This is the slowest speed of charging but if you don't drive a lot this is a good option. It is also an excellent backup, as you can plug in almost anywhere and get a little extra range.

Level Two charging uses a 240-volt outlet and is the most common type of charger you will encounter. Most EV drivers have a level two charger installed at their home. A level two is able to fully charge most EVs overnight, meaning you can have a "full tank" ready to go every morning. You will find level two charging stations across North America with standard plugs that will fit your Genesis EV.

Level Three chargers are also called Direct Current Fast Chargers (DCFC). These stations are the fastest way to charge your EV and usually found at gas stations and highway rest stops. If you want to charge in the fastest way possible, you should use a level 3 charger, as these charging stations will provide a lot of range to your EV in a short amount of time. However, charging at a DCFC station is only effective if your battery’s state-of-charge (SOC) is below 80%. After that point, charging will slow down significantly. Therefore, once you reach 80% of charging, if you have enough range, you should simply continue your trip. If you want to reach 100% charge you should plug your car into a level 2 charger, since the last 20% of charging are as fast with a level 2 station than a level 3, but less expensive.

Your Genesis navigation system will show you where to find nearby charging stations or there are many apps available that will show you where to find chargers and even if they are available or in use. Don't let fear of charging stand in the way of considering an EV. Instead imagine how nice it will be to never have to stop on a cold dark night and shiver while waiting for your gas tank to fill up.
